![]() I would also recommend to visit Bay12 forums and not only for DF. Also make sure to check wiki as mentioned by Fyreslayer. Everything will get more natural in time and watching someone else to play is great fun too, because each story is different, so its like watching a movie or reading a book. Get two screens (or three) if you don't already and play the game while watching videos and steamers. On how to learn, I recommend similar approach as I had. It took me some time to learn and ASCII really is a kind of Dwarven Matrix, but once you get used to it, it is beautiful. I spent loads of time in ASCII version (YouTube videos made by Captain Duck helped me a LOT) and I am pretty sure I will be switching between between the grapgic and ASCII one in the future. ![]() In my opinion it is the most complex game ever created so far and it has not been even finished (plus there will be always more to add). As long as your last dwarf has food in their belly, drink at hand and their blood on the inside, the game continues, so the complexity is what makes you flexible and able to thrive really. I think it's better to say that the game is still fun if you don't know how to play it just yet.įor complexity, I would say the game is as complicated as you want to make it, with a base of 4 if you want to make one industry you focus on and import everything else that you need, to an 11 if you decide you want to build a computer in the game itself. There's some youtube videos on people playing their own forts especially with the new version that might help.Īs for how long it takes to learn, that's a kinda tough question since Even though the game is not the learning cliff it used to be it is still going to take a while before you feel like you "learned" the game. It doesn't have anything on the new version but it should be good to get you started. For resources on how to learn the game there isn't a better resource than the DF wiki.
